Virtual Rides 3 - Funfair Simulator

Virtual Rides 3 launched on March 16, 2017 and, after resolving an early publisher dispute (announced resolved November 2, 2018), has received a sustained stream of major content updates ever since. The developer has shipped nine major content updates post-launch, adding new rides through both free updates and paid DLC packs. The most recent major update (2.7) shipped on July 16, 2025, adding the Noise Machine and Power Dive rides. Before that: Update 2.6 (September 20, 2024) added Continuum and Power Spin; Update 2.5 (February 26, 2024) added Glider and Upside Down; Update 2.4 (October 20, 2023) added Northstar. This establishes a clear cadence of roughly one major update every 6–12 months in recent years. In October 2023, the developer explicitly stated plans to continue releasing 2–3 updates per year "for as long as the technical framework of our nearly seven year old game allows." No subsequent statement has walked this back. All 11 DLC packs are currently released, and no new DLC has been announced or listed as unreleased. As of today (October 8, 2026), the last major update was July 16, 2025 — approximately 15 months ago. This places the game outside the typical 6–12 month cadence window established by recent updates. However, the developer has never announced an end to content development, and the October 2023 statement remains the last explicit developer comment on VR3's future. Given that the cadence itself was described as variable ("as long as the technical framework allows"), and this is the first time the game has exceeded the upper bound of that window since the developer resumed active development, this sits at the edge rather than clearly beyond it. The developer's standing commitment to continued support, combined with the slightly overdue update, warrants watching — but does not yet indicate the project has ended.
