WAKFU

WAKFU is a free-to-play MMORPG that has been in continuous, active development since its 2014 Steam launch. The game has received a sustained stream of major content updates over the years — including new zones, class revamps, boss encounters, interface overhauls, and story expansions — with no sign of slowing down. Recent major updates include: Wabbit Island (December 13, 2023), Misty Isle (February 11, 2025), Ultimate Boss Nox and the conclusion of the Misty Isle story arc (September 16, 2025), and Haven Paddocks (June 16, 2026). This pattern reflects roughly 3–4 significant updates per year. Most recently, on August 13, 2026, Ankama posted a beta announcement for version 1.93, which includes a Pandawa class revamp, class balancing for Sacrier, Rogue, and Huppermage, new alternate animations for Cra spells, new class appearances, a new dialog interface, and "many more surprises." This confirms active development work is already underway beyond the latest live update. The developers also stated explicitly in their June 11, 2026 devblog that "after this update, we know we'll still have a lot of work to do" and that they have "plenty of ideas for reworking the ecology system, along with the way you harvest resources and interact with the world." This is a clear, direct statement of ongoing development intent. The game's free-to-play structure, in-game economy and politics systems, cosmetic monetization (including the Pack Nox DLC released February 11, 2025), and long history of continuous updates all reinforce its design as a continuously evolving online service.
