We Are Legion

Released Aug 2015

No unit caps. No limits. No mercy. I don't know if fast paced, retro arcade style strategy is a thing, but if it is, this is it. 我會看到你在戰場上。

Evaluation

We Are Legion launched on August 7, 2015 and received a series of post-launch updates through early 2016. The developer shipped several feature additions in quick succession after launch: a map editor (Patch 1.1.0, August 24, 2015), spectator mode (Patch 1.2.0, September 5, 2015), and Mac/Linux support alongside minor bug fixes (Patches 1.3.0–1.3.1, February 3–7, 2016). The February 7, 2016 patch thread is the last official communication from the developer on record. The September 2015 announcement post listed upcoming features — custom maps in multiplayer, new game modes, and co-op maps — that were never delivered as far as the public record shows. However, no developer post after that date reaffirms these plans, and the final February 2016 post makes no mention of them. Given that over 10 years have passed since the last developer communication (February 7, 2016) with no further updates, announcements, or roadmap posts, those earlier promises appear to have been quietly abandoned. The developer has not posted anything since February 2016, indicating the game has been in a maintenance-complete state for many years. There are no unreleased DLC listings, no season passes, and no live service elements. The game launched as a finished competitive strategy title and received its final feature additions in early 2016.

About this game

Ancient China, 220 AD. China is in disarray and within years the population plummets from 60 million to less than 20 million. Massive war involving millions of men devastates the land. When General Huangfu Song 義真 was asked how he got around the unit caps to build such massive armies, he replied "小馬是世界上最好的開發商" which in the barbarian tongue of English means roughly, "What the %$#^ are unit caps, this is war!"

Forget about micro. Forget about build orders. This war is about one thing. Ridiculous, uncompromising, seething masses of blood hungry warriors massacring each other by the hundreds every second.

There is no unit cap. Control armies of hundreds of thousands, even millions. Send orders to a single unit, or send orders to a million units. Frantically maintain control of your resources across epic sized maps, while constantly building out your fleet of barracks to churn out millions of more units.

I don't know if fast paced, retro arcade style strategy is a thing, but if it is, this is it. 我會看到你在戰場上。
