We Need To Go Deeper

We Need To Go Deeper launched out of Early Access on August 1, 2019 and received a steady run of post-launch content over the following years: a new game mode and pets in the Awakened Update (January 2024), QOL and new items in v1.2 (July 2020) and v1.3 (November 2020), the paid Atomique submarine DLC (March 2021), and a new biome with boss in the Quantum Update v1.5 (October 2021). The last major content drop was the Supporter Pack DLC alongside a Winter Event in December 2022. In August 2022, the developer teased that "more We Need To Go Deeper updates are on the way" and that they were "quietly brewing up a sizable announcement." However, the August 2023 anniversary post — the most recent developer communication on record — made no mention of any forthcoming WNTGD content. Instead, it announced localization work undertaken in partnership with publisher Graffiti Games and developer 3OGS, and focused primarily on the studio's other game, Camp Canyonwood. The December 2022 post also acknowledged financial difficulties at the studio. The last confirmed developer communication for We Need To Go Deeper is from August 7, 2023. That is nearly three years ago as of today (June 28, 2026), with no news posts, patches, or announcements in the interim. The teased "sizable announcement" from August 2022 was plausibly fulfilled by the December 2022 Winter Event and Supporter Pack update, and no subsequent post has re-affirmed any further content plans. All three DLCs are released, no unreleased DLC entries exist on the store, and the developer has not published any roadmap or commitment to future content since then. The extended silence — nearly three years beyond what was already an irregular update cadence of roughly 6–12 months between major releases — indicates the game has reached the end of its content lifecycle, with December 8, 2022 marking the last substantive content release.
