Released Feb 2024
Windowkill is a twin-stick shooter, but the game window itself is constantly closing in on you. Shoot the window edges to push it around your screen as you fight and dodge enemies and bosses in their own windows.

Evaluation
Windowkill launched on February 23, 2024 and has received a steady stream of updates from the solo developer, torcado. The major content milestones since launch are: v3.0 at launch (February 23, 2024), v3.1.0 on March 5, 2024 (translations, Steam Cloud), v3.2.0 on April 6, 2024 (full modding support, open-sourced assets), and v4.0 on September 6, 2024 (new character, boss, enemy, game mode, and more). The one-year anniversary update v4.0.5 shipped on February 24, 2025, adding Steam Deck verification and a range of new features, followed by v4.0.6 on February 26, 2025 and a hotfix on February 27, 2025. The major content releases cluster in two bursts: three updates in roughly six weeks after launch (February–April 2024), then v4.0 approximately five months later (September 2024), with the anniversary update arriving about five and a half months after that (February 2025). This gives an average gap between significant releases of roughly 4–6 months. As of today, September 24, 2026, the last developer communication of any kind was on February 27, 2025 — approximately 19 months ago. The established cadence between major releases has been roughly 4–6 months, meaning silence of 19 months is well beyond three times that window. The developer has made no statement about completing development, but equally has made no announcement of upcoming content. Given the silence extends significantly beyond the historical update pattern, the sustained development signal is weaker than at the time of the previous evaluation. However, the developer has never indicated the game is finished or that no further updates are planned, so a completion date cannot be established. The active development content warning is retained but confidence is reduced to reflect the extended silence.
