Winged Sakura: Demon Civil War launched on December 8, 2016. In the weeks following launch, the developer released two patches — one on December 11, 2016 adding gameplay options and trap adjustments, and one on January 8, 2017 with optimization improvements and bug fixes. After that, developer activity on this game's store page shifted toward announcing new standalone titles in the same franchise: Winged Sakura: Endless Dream (released October 6, 2017) and Winged Sakura: Mindy's Arc 2 (released April 26, 2019). These announcements were cross-posted to this game's news feed as a courtesy to existing owners, but they represent new separate games — not updates to Demon Civil War itself. The only DLC ever released for this game is the soundtrack, which shipped on the same day as the game itself. No roadmap, future content, or additional DLC has ever been announced for Demon Civil War. The developer's post-launch activity on this title concluded with the January 8, 2017 optimization patch, after which the studio moved on to new projects. The game launched as a complete product and received only early maintenance patches before development on it concluded.

In the demon world, Winged Sakura, humans gifted with a rare ability to form contracts with any living being, are used as tools of war. A contract can unseal any power within a living being and turn them into a powerful creature.

Incarnated into a world of demons, you find yourself caught up in a middle of a demon civil war. You were retrieved by the Rebellions and you were given one choice: To help the Rebellions end of the civil war by conquering Pandemonium, the city where the Demon King resides. The Rebellions finally acquired the power of Incarnates, a Winged Sakura that has incarnated into the demon world, and now is able to make their final move.
