Wurm Online is a long-running free-to-play sandbox MMORPG that has been operating since 2006 and arrived on Steam on July 24, 2020. The game is built around a premium subscription model and is explicitly described on its store page as "continually updated and evolving."
The developer has maintained a highly active update cadence throughout the available news history. Major content shipped includes the Docks and Goblin Camps systems in September 2025. A development roadmap was published in June 2025 outlining those features and others in progress. A follow-up development update was posted on May 17, 2026, announcing an animation system rework and the planned return of the Jackal event server — both described as near-future additions.
The animation system rework subsequently shipped in the July 21, 2026 patch, and further animation improvements arrived in the August 25, 2026 patch — released just two days before today's date. Feature patches have shipped consistently: March 2026, April 2026, May 2026 (announcement), July 2026, and August 2026.
