The developer, Code Club AB, explicitly announced on January 21, 2020 that update 1.9.2.7 marked "the end of official content support for Wurm Unlimited." The post described the milestone as "bittersweet" and stated clearly that no further content would be developed for the game. The developer noted they would continue to support modders, address major technical issues, and answer player questions, but drew a firm line under new feature development. This is a direct, unambiguous statement from the developer that content work is finished.
Prior to this announcement, the game had received a substantial run of major updates from its October 2015 launch through early 2020 — including version 1.4 (July 2017), 1.5 (October 2017), 1.6 (April 2018), 1.7 (July 2018), 1.8 (September 2018), and 1.9 (March–April 2019). The January 2020 patch was the final update in this series, and no developer communications of any kind have followed it.

In Wurm Unlimited, players can explore an elaborate fantasy sandbox world in the predefined Creative or Adventure modes as well as set up their own game server and invite friends to live and experience the Wurm universe.
