Evaluation
X3: Terran Conflict launched on October 16, 2008 as a complete, standalone space simulation game. Egosoft subsequently released post-launch content in the form of a Bonus Package (June 12, 2014) and the X3: Albion Prelude expansion (December 16, 2011). Between 2015 and 2017, Egosoft continued to release technical patches — including Steam Cloud support, performance improvements, bug fixes, and controller support backports — keeping the game running well on modern systems.
Critically, in an April 2021 announcement, Egosoft explicitly stated that they had decided to bring development of X3 engine-based titles to an end following X3: Albion Prelude. The subsequent X3: Farnham's Legacy expansion (released May 4, 2021) was developed not by Egosoft's core team but by a dedicated community group from Egosoft's DevNet, and was released as a separate product. Egosoft's own words confirm that official, first-party development of X3: Terran Conflict concluded years prior.
All five DLC items listed on the store are released. No unreleased DLC exists. No roadmap, announcement, or developer statement suggests any further content is planned for this title. The last substantive update to X3: Terran Conflict itself was version 3.4 in December 2017. The game is fully complete.
Evidence
X3: Farnham's Legacy released on May 4, 2021 — the most recent DLC associated with the game, developed by a community team and released as a free expansion. All DLC are now in released status.
Egosoft explicitly stated that with the release of X3: Albion Prelude, they decided to bring development of X3 engine-based titles to an end. X3: Farnham's Legacy was developed by a community group, not Egosoft's core team.
