XCOM: Enemy Unknown launched on October 8, 2012 and received two paid DLC expansions: the Elite Soldier Pack (October 23, 2012) and the Slingshot DLC, followed by the major standalone expansion XCOM: Enemy Within, which launched in November 2013. All three DLC items are released with no unreleased content remaining in the store listing. Developer news activity after Enemy Within's release consisted of a handful of balance patches and bug fixes through early 2014, then shifted entirely to announcements for successor titles — XCOM 2 (announced June 1, 2015) and XCOM: Chimera Squad (launched April 24, 2020). No new content for Enemy Unknown has been announced or released since early 2014. The developer's attention has clearly moved on to sequels and spin-offs. The game is a complete, finished product.

XCOM: Enemy Unknown will place you in control of a secret paramilitary organization called XCOM. As the XCOM commander, you will defend against a terrifying global alien invasion by managing resources, advancing technologies, and overseeing combat strategies and individual unit tactics.
