Evaluation
XIII Remake launched on November 10, 2020 to significant criticism. Microids and PlayMagic acknowledged the poor launch quality in an official statement on November 13, 2020, apologizing and promising a roadmap of free additions including new levels, weapons, skins, and multiplayer modes. The team pushed multiple bug-fix patches through late 2020 and into 2021, addressing controls, AI, animations, and other issues. A feature patch in June 2021 added weapon management improvements and an FOV setting.
In June 2022, Microids announced they had handed development of a major overhaul update to a different studio, Tower Five, which had been working on it for over a year. That update shipped on September 13, 2022, reworking the game's art direction, AI, and technical foundations, and adding the long-awaited online multiplayer mode. A final bug-fix patch followed on January 30, 2023, adding Russian and Polish localisations and fixing several audio and multiplayer issues.
Since January 30, 2023, there have been no further developer communications, patches, or announcements. The promised roadmap items from the November 2020 statement (new levels, weapons, skins, additional multiplayer modes) were never delivered as distinct content — but the September 2022 overhaul represented the culmination of the developer's remediation effort, and the January 2023 patch appears to be the final update. No future content has been announced, no unreleased DLC exists, and the only DLC on record is a pre-order bonus that shipped at launch. The developer's silence since January 30, 2023 — over three years with no posts — combined with no outstanding commitments points to the game being complete in its current form.

About this game
WHO ARE YOU, REALLY?
XIII is the remake of the iconic action game played in first person view initially released in 2003. You play as “XIII”, a man with no identity, in a single player campaign full of twists and turns. Inspired by the eponymous comic book, the game features a unique cel-shading design entirely reinvented. XIII will also offer the possibility to confront your opponents through brutal multiplayer battles.
The country is still in shock after the assassination of President Sheridan. You wake up wounded, without any memory, on a deserted beach of the west coast. The only clues to your identity are the number XIII tattooed near your collarbone and a locker key. Despite your amnesia, you discover that you have the reflexes of a fully trained professional fighter. You take the road seeking for pieces of your past, finding out that you played a role in the murder of the President of the United States and uncovering the most horrific conspiracy in the entire history of the country.
