Evaluation

Yakuza Kiwami 2 (Legacy) is no longer available for purchase on Steam — it has been delisted. This is the original western release of the game, which launched on May 9, 2019 as a complete, finished product with no post-launch content additions beyond two technical patches (v1.2 on June 13, 2019 and v1.3 on June 24, 2019). On December 11, 2025, SEGA released a new version of the game simply titled "Yakuza Kiwami 2" as part of the franchise's 20th anniversary celebration. This new version added text language support in several languages but is otherwise identical in content to the Legacy version. Owners of Yakuza Kiwami 2 (Legacy) automatically received the new version added to their library at no charge. The store description for the Legacy version explicitly notes: "If you have Yakuza Kiwami 2 (Legacy), Yakuza Kiwami 2 will be automatically added to your library" and confirms "There are no differences in the basic game content or specifications" between the two versions. The Legacy version effectively served its purpose as the original release and has been superseded by the newer edition, which now carries the active store listing.

Evidence

SEGA released a new version of Yakuza Kiwami 2 for the series' 20th anniversary, adding multilingual text support. Owners of the Legacy version automatically received the new version. The Legacy version was effectively superseded and removed from sale.
