Yao-Guai Hunter officially launched version 1.0 on April 17, 2025, graduating from Early Access. The 1.0 release was a substantial update that added a new chapter, a new playable character (ShaEr, available free via DLC), a new ending, and a large number of bug fixes and quality-of-life improvements. At launch, the developer explicitly said: "We still have a mountain of ideas we haven't had the chance to implement, including new cards, Inner Skills, events, and elixirs for existing characters, and even brand-new heroes. Creating this content is a joy, and we hope to bring more of it to you very soon." This statement of intent to continue adding content was reiterated in the pre-launch announcement post as well. Since the 1.0 release, the developer has delivered a steady stream of updates: V1.1.0 in May 2025 (new enemies, new cards, major balance overhaul), V1.2.0 in June 2025 (new items system, new events, system changes), V1.2.2 in August 2025 (new codex feature, controller support, UI improvements), V1.2.8 in December 2025 (bug fixes and UI features), and V1.2.9 in May 2026 (bug fixes and balance adjustments). This sustained cadence of updates — with substantive feature additions roughly every 1–3 months — reflects a developer actively developing the game beyond a "finished" state. Both DLC items listed on the store are released: a soundtrack (July 2023) and the ShaEr character pack (April 2025, the launch-day free character). No unreleased DLC is currently listed. The game is available for purchase and is not in Early Access.
