Rescue the Great Demon 2 is a free-to-play RPG that launched on November 18, 2016. All three of its DLCs (a donation pack, an art book, and an OST package) were released on November 25, 2016, shortly after launch. The game received bug fixes and patches through December 2016, and the developer communicated sporadically about a planned remake called "Rescue the Great Demon: Rebirth" in 2017 and 2018. The most significant developer communication came on July 22, 2020, when the developer (Yesen) posted an update explaining that the long-promised remake had finally been completed and released as a separate game on Steam — "Falsemen2: Upstream" (App ID 1038820). In that post, the developer explicitly referenced a promise made at the end of 2016 to deliver a full remake of this game, and confirmed that promise had now been fulfilled. The post also fulfilled the earlier pledge to offer a 90% discount bundle for players who owned all DLC from Rescue the Great Demon 2. This July 2020 post marks the end of the development story for this title. The original game itself received no further content — all post-launch DLC had shipped by November 2016, and the remake was released as an entirely separate product. There have been no developer communications since July 22, 2020, and no further content has been announced or listed for this game. The game launched as a complete, free-to-play experience, and all DLC is released.
