Evaluation
98xx launched in May 2023 and received a series of major content updates — Update 4.0 on October 15, 2023, Update 5.0 on January 23, 2024 — before the developer released the explicitly titled "98xx The Full Release" on May 31, 2024, adding the final batch of applications (Kingdom Quest, Settings, Security, and Shape Game). This marked the completion of the game's content.
A follow-up project called "98xx Rebooted" was announced but subsequently cancelled. On September 25, 2025, the developer confirmed the cancellation, citing a loss of passion for the project and a move to something new. On September 13, 2026, the developer released the remaining files from the cancelled Rebooted project as a public archive download, explicitly stating: "98xx is a dead game/series" and that they "will never be touching 98xx-related projects ever again." This is a clear and definitive statement that no further development will occur for 98xx or any successor.
The base game reached its complete state on May 31, 2024, and the developer has since confirmed in the strongest possible terms that the series is finished.

About this game
The 98xx was an old computer OS from the 90s that’s recently been discovered after many years of being lost. There are still a few working files within the OS that can be explored, but there are a few unexpected glitches. One program in particular which goes by the name of "Jumping Julian" on the surface seems like your typical 2D platformer, but as the game goes on, weird things start to happen. Play at your own risk!
