In the months following launch, the team shipped a free DLC ("Heart Department Store" side story) and a substantial "Progress Star" update pack adding a new Story Mode and several quality-of-life systems. In October 2023, the game received its most significant update — the "Millennium Edition" (千禧版) — which added full controller support, voice acting for major characters, Traditional Chinese, English, and Japanese localizations, and broad bug fixes. This update also launched the game on all major console platforms simultaneously.
Alongside that Millennium Edition update, the developer published a heartfelt retrospective post on October 26, 2023, explicitly describing the game's development journey as "coming to an end." They framed the Millennium Edition as the culmination of the game's long development arc, writing that "A Perfect Day's development journey is nearing its end, but Perfect Day Studio's creative journey is just beginning." This is a clear Tier 1 developer statement signaling the completion of content development for this title.
Subsequent communications from the studio have confirmed this trajectory: the December 2024 post announced a mobile port (A Perfect Day Pocket), and the February 2025 post confirmed that mobile version had launched — both representing platform expansions rather than new PC content. Since September 2025, the studio has shifted its public focus entirely to its new game, *We, Junk Artists*, with no indication of further content planned for A Perfect Day on PC.

Multiple stories and elaborate designs are presented in the game. The four main stories are interpreted in a narrative network structure and intersect in an infinite time loop. Besides, there are many side stories waiting to be experienced, such as the one with growing pains of friends, the one with confusion and innocence of teenage love, the one with how to deal with the father's temper tantrums, etc. Face the problems head-on and figure out how to turn the situations around.

The 1990s was a time of exchanges and rapid development between China and the West. The game depicts China in the 1990s in a unique crayon hand-painted style, well-reflecting the Chinese lifestyle in the late 90s.
