Above Snakes launched on May 25, 2023 and received a steady stream of updates in its first year. Post-launch content included several feature patches in the months following release, and two major named content updates: the "Most Wanted" update on December 19, 2023 — described by the developer as the biggest content update for the game — and a Holiday Event running through January 10, 2025, announced on December 2, 2024. On February 13, 2024, the developer (Square Glade Games) posted a new game reveal for a separate title called Outbound, explicitly noting that "that doesn't mean that there will be no Above Snakes patches anymore." However, subsequent communications in July and August 2024 focused entirely on Outbound's Kickstarter campaign, with no further Above Snakes content announced. The holiday event posted on December 2, 2024 is the last developer communication on record for Above Snakes, and no new content, roadmap, or future updates have been announced since then. The established cadence of major content for Above Snakes was roughly one significant update every 6–12 months (summer 2023 feature patches, December 2023 major update, December 2024 holiday event). As of June 22, 2026 — over 18 months since the last developer communication — the game has gone well beyond that cadence window with no new announcements. The developer's attention has clearly shifted to Outbound, and no outstanding content commitments exist for Above Snakes. The sole DLC is the original soundtrack, which shipped on launch day. The game appears to have concluded its content cycle with the December 2024 holiday event.
