Evaluation

ADIOS Amigos: Galactic Explorers launched on September 12, 2018. After release, the developer shipped a couple of feature patches in October 2018 (v1.1), and then delivered one major content update — the "Galactic Explorers" update on August 29, 2022 — which ported content from the PS4/PS5 console release to PC, adding a new intro campaign, a Ground Roving Shuttle, bird lifeforms, additional music, and more. That August 2022 update represents the most recent developer communication of any kind. There are no unreleased DLC entries, no announced future content, no roadmap, and no developer posts after August 29, 2022. The game has no sustained pattern of recurring major updates that would suggest more content is coming — the 2022 drop appears to have been a one-time port of console content. With no outstanding commitments and nearly four years of silence since the last update, the game appears to have reached its final content state with the Galactic Explorers update.
Evidence
The Galactic Explorers update shipped, porting content from the PS4/PS5 version including a new intro campaign, Ground Roving Shuttle, bird lifeforms, parties, and additional music. This is the last developer communication on record.

About this game

Explore the peculiar universe of ADIOS Amigos. A game with serious astrophysics in a comic setting for 1-4 players.

Explore solar systems and discover planets, space stations, aliens, and artifacts. Improvise fuel efficient trajectories to keep your rusty ship running (and you might see your home planet once again).

Toy with accurate and delightful space physics. Break into a space station with an asteroid. Tow a sofa into a black hole. Normal stuff.

Features

  • A new experience every time you play with procedural generation.
  • Pilot a space ship with a realistic but intuitive handling.
  • Exit the ship whenever you like to explore on foot.
  • Deep orbital mechanics with a friendly user interface.
  • Micro gravity gameplay in open space, asteroid fields or even inside space stations.
  • Local co-op multiplayer for 1-4 player with dynamic split screen.
  • Detailed physical simulation of entire solar systems including gravity, temperature, and atmosphere.
  • Rookie mode for young children or inexperienced gamers.
  • Four campaigns that can be played as a single player or cooperatively.
  • Funky original soundtrack - With saxophone solos!
  • No weapons or killing (although horrible accidents may occur).

The Cosmic Clockwork

In ADIOS Amigos the simulation controls everything. Nudge an asteroid with your ship and it might come crashing down on you as you walk around on a planet minutes later. Day and night cycles are caused by the planets rotations and we even simulate temperature and air resistance. You are free to do anything within the confines of the simulation. Focus on keeping your ship alive to reach your home planet or try riding a sofa into a black hole.

Rookie Mode

In Rookie mode it is possible for players of different skill levels to play together. Parents can play with their young children. Or gamers can play with their less talented parents and siblings. Rookie mode makes the controls easier and stops the player from doing obviously dangerous things.
