Age of Conan: Unchained

Age of Conan: Unchained is Funcom's long-running free-to-play massively multiplayer online RPG, available on Steam since February 2013. As an MMO with an in-game item shop, membership subscription tiers, limited-time seasonal Saga Servers, and rotating cosmetic content, the game was designed from the ground up as a continuously operated live service — it is not a product with a defined completion state. The game received meaningful content updates for many years. Notable post-Steam-launch content includes the Unconquered Mode and new race/class combinations (March 2019), followed by the Kuthchemes Temple Onslaught scenario (April 28, 2020), which introduced a brand-new PvE horde survival scenario with full narrative framing, difficulty scaling, leaderboards, and a bespoke reward system. However, the last communication specifically addressing Age of Conan: Unchained dates to April 28, 2020. Posts from early 2022 on the game's Steam news feed (February 21 and March 1, 2022) promoted Conan Chop Chop — a completely separate game by Funcom — and contain no information about Age of Conan's own development. Since April 2020, Funcom has not published any patch notes, update announcements, event schedules, or developer statements about the state or future of Age of Conan: Unchained itself. The game's servers remain online, and it is still free to download and play. But given that more than six years have passed since the last Age of Conan-specific developer communication, it is unclear whether the game is still receiving any active development, content additions, or even routine maintenance beyond server upkeep. Funcom has not made a public statement confirming the game's ongoing development or announcing any future content for it.
