Among Us 3D: VR launched on November 10, 2022 and has received a steady stream of major updates throughout its life. From late 2024 through 2025, original developer Schell Games ran a series of Limited Time Events — Round Up (December 2024), DUM Justice (May 2025), Critical Cargo (July 2025), and Afterlife (October 2025) — each adding new roles, modes, and cosmetics. In March 2026, Schell Games announced they were formally handing development back to the IP's original owner, Innersloth. On March 3, 2026, Schell Games posted a farewell, and on March 20, 2026, they confirmed the transition details and announced the Definitive Edition update. This update launched on April 9, 2026, permanently adding previously limited-time content (Mess Hall map, Wraith, Scanner, Deputy roles, and returning cosmetics) into the base game. Critically, the transition to Innersloth does not represent the end of the game's content. The March 2026 announcement explicitly confirmed that new cosmetics would be available in-store every month throughout 2026 and into 2027. Innersloth has stated the game is not shutting down and has taken over player support and ongoing operations. The game's store operates a rotating cosmetic model with monthly drops — a structure that is designed to continue indefinitely, not wind down.
