Andarilho launched out of Early Access on November 12, 2020. At that time, the developer (a solo developer at SC Jogos) acknowledged the game doesn't generate enough revenue to support full-time development, and committed to 2–3 updates per year going forward. The game received several feature updates through early 2022, including a significant map overhaul and new systems. Then on January 30, 2025, the developer made a notable announcement: development of the game in its current visual style has been paused due to a lack of resources. As an alternative, the developer released a separate "Alternative Version" beta on Steam using a low-poly art style, and asked players for feedback to help decide the game's future direction — including the possibility of switching game engines entirely. A flurry of small updates to the alternative version followed between January 31 and February 12, 2025 (versions AV.0.1 through AV.0.5). The February 7, 2025 post noted that "future updates will be more complex and will take longer to release." No further developer communications have been posted since February 12, 2025. The situation is uncertain: the developer has openly paused the main version of the game, is testing a different direction, and has gone quiet since February 12, 2025 without announcing any resolution. It's unclear whether the low-poly version will move forward, whether the engine will change, or what the game's future looks like. The original version remains available to play in its current state.
