Ascendant Hearts launched on January 18, 2018 as a complete visual novel. On January 28, 2020, the developer shipped a notable content update that added new artwork (CGs, sprites, backgrounds), music, sound effects, additional story content, and a new UI — this update was produced as a byproduct of a console port and rebuilt the game in Unity. That update appears to be the last content the developer has delivered for this game. Since then, the developer's attention has visibly moved on: a February 2019 announcement promoted their next game Eternal Radiance via Kickstarter, and a July 30, 2025 announcement promoted yet another new project, Nezori, also via Kickstarter. Neither of these posts references any future plans for Ascendant Hearts. There are no unreleased DLC listings, no roadmap, and no developer statement promising additional content. The game appears to be a fully complete product as of the January 2020 content update.

Description
Hayato lived an ordinary life until he wakes up one day with amnesia… and finds himself in a world closer to the video games he plays than the world he remembers.
Fetch quests? Skill points? Respawning after death? It’s all a bit much to accept. A mage named Shiori offers to help him find his way, and with her help, he learns how to fight monsters, perform fetch quests, and put items in a strange metaphysical space called an “inventory.”
Soon he’s ready to take on NPC quests! But the town of Lightshire is in danger from deadly monsters—monsters that can kill you for real. Where did they come from? What is behind the attacks?
