Block Story has been under continuous active development since its launch in December 2015, with a consistent pattern of major updates spanning over a decade. Recent major content includes version 13.4.0 "Rise of the Kingdom Part 1" (November 8, 2025), the massive "Block Story Reforged" overhaul (version 14.0, released June 18, 2026), and a follow-up feature patch on June 25, 2026. Most significantly, on July 26, 2026 — just weeks ago — the developer announced that multiplayer is actively being developed and is planned to arrive "later this year." The announcement confirmed cross-play support between PC, mobile, GOG, and Itch.io, alongside peer-to-peer connectivity, land claim, text chat, proximity chat, and more. The developer also linked this to mod support in development, describing it as "a new age of Block Story." Additionally, a roadmap shared in April 2026 outlined further planned features after the 14.0 update, including a Combat Overhaul, a new Terrain Generator (V3), and a Lighting Overhaul — none of which have shipped yet. The developer has expanded their team, shipped one of the game's largest-ever updates in June 2026, and has clearly communicated that significant new features (especially multiplayer) are in active development and expected later in 2026. This is an actively developed game with explicitly announced upcoming content.
