Creativerse relaunched on December 6, 2022 as "The Definitive Edition" — a major pivot from free-to-play to a pay-once model that bundled the full game with all previous content and nearly 300 new blocks, items, and systems. The store description calls it "the culmination of 8 years of development" in a "pay-once-play-forever package."
Despite that label, Playful Corp. has continued actively updating the game well after the relaunch. A feature update (The Collectables Update) shipped on April 12, 2023; a substantial quality-of-life patch followed on August 30, 2023; and a named content update — the Monster Arcade Update — arrived on March 6, 2024. The developer also noted in July 2023 that they were "about halfway through development on the game's next update," confirming ongoing work between patches.
Most recently, on January 20, 2026, the developer opened a public Experimental branch containing new features and content actively in development before being rolled into the live build. The announcement explicitly states the branch "contains upcoming changes and new features that we're actively developing" and references a linked document of live patch notes being maintained on an ongoing basis, with new update announcements going out via the official Discord.
With the Experimental branch still publicly active as of January 20, 2026 — the most recent developer communication — and no statement from Playful Corp. indicating that development has concluded, the game continues to receive new content at a sustained cadence. The developer has not signaled any intention to stop updating the game.
