Blocks by Google

Blocks by Google launched on July 6, 2017 as a free-to-play VR 3D modeling tool. After launch, Google shipped four major updates at a fairly regular pace: v1.0.5 on July 28, 2017, v2.0 on September 28, 2017, v3.0 on November 29, 2017, and v4.0 on January 29, 2018 — roughly one major update every 1–2 months. Each major release was followed by a bug-fix patch. The last developer communication of any kind was a service notice on March 16, 2018, reporting a temporary publishing issue with the Poly platform. There have been no further posts, updates, patches, or announcements from Google since that date. The established cadence of major releases (roughly every 1–2 months) places the silence since March 2018 — now over eight years — far beyond any reasonable continuation of that pattern. No future content, roadmap, or ongoing development has been communicated. The store description makes no mention of planned additions. Google's Poly platform, which Blocks integrated with for sharing models, was itself shut down by Google in 2021. All evidence points to Blocks having reached the end of its active development lifecycle around early 2018, with the v4.0.1 bug fix on February 1, 2018 representing the last substantive update shipped.
