Evaluation

Box Maze launched out of Early Access on March 3, 2017, shipping 100 levels, 170 achievements, and a full set of character skin DLCs — all of which are now released. After launch, the developer released Box Maze 2 (September 2017) and a standalone spinoff, Box Maze Extreme (March 2018), signaling that the studio's creative focus had moved to new titles. The most recent developer communication is a May 5, 2020 community post in which the developer solicited player feedback and acknowledged the game "has not been updated for quite some time." No follow-up patch, update, or announcement appears to have materialized from that outreach. The developer explicitly noted in April 2017 that any future work on Box Maze 1 would be limited to a visual rework only. All six DLCs are released. There are no unreleased DLC entries on the store, no roadmap, and no announced future content. The last substantive update to the game predates the May 2020 feedback post, and that post itself has not been followed up on. With no outstanding commitments and a development focus that shifted to sequels years ago, Box Maze is a complete, finished product. The May 5, 2020 post is used as the completion date anchor, as it represents the developer's last engagement with the game and implicitly confirmed no updates had shipped in an extended period.
