Cat Chess launched on July 14, 2026. Both DLC items — a Supporter Cat cosmetic and the Royal Cat Deluxe Digital Edition — released on the same day as the base game. Since launch, the developer has been actively updating the game. A week-1 post on July 21, 2026 detailed new content additions (a Beach Chessboard, Gold Cat color customization, new animations) alongside numerous fixes and platform improvements. A month-1 post on August 31, 2026 delivered further polish including new fight animations, a new cursor, and controller/Steam Deck improvements. Importantly, that August 31 post explicitly states: "We're not done yet! Alongside more fixes and polish, we're also working on new content for Cat Chess!" The developer listed active work on campaign improvements, bot improvements, PVP match improvements, and new skins. This is a direct statement from the developer that additional content is coming.
