Cat in the Box launched on May 1, 2020 as a complete horror adventure game. In the weeks following launch, the developer issued several bug fix patches addressing minor issues, and added Japanese language support on May 30, 2020. Additional language support followed — Thai in September 2021, Russian in November 2021, and Spanish in July 2023. These language additions represent localisation work rather than new story content or gameplay expansions. The sole DLC, a soundtrack pack, was released on May 14, 2020. No new story content, gameplay expansions, or additional DLC have ever been announced. The developer has made no posts since July 10, 2023, and nothing in any post suggests further content is planned. The game launched as a self-contained experience and has been content-complete since its release date.
