Evaluation

Chinese Chess entered Steam Early Access on October 20, 2017, and received a flurry of updates in the weeks following launch, with feature patches continuing through early 2019. The last known developer communication was a feature update posted on April 25, 2019, which added a logbook and fixed an engine selection bug. Since then — as of June 27, 2026 — there have been no further posts, patches, announcements, or any other communication from the developer. The game remains listed in Early Access on Steam, meaning the developer has not formally completed or graduated it to a full release. No roadmap, 1.0 target, or future content plans have ever been publicly stated. With more than seven years of silence since the last update and the game still technically in Early Access, there is significant uncertainty about whether development is continuing at all.
