Evaluation

Chroma Squad launched on April 30, 2015 and received a series of post-launch updates from Behold Studios. The major milestones were the "Director's Cut" free update on July 7, 2017 (which added New Game+, revamped Mecha fights, and controller support), and the "Episode Editor" free update on February 23, 2018 (which added a full in-game level creator and Steam Workshop support). That Episode Editor release — accompanied by a free DLC listing on the store — represents the last substantive content addition to the game. Since February 2018, there have been no further updates, announcements, or developer communications about Chroma Squad specifically. The two news posts that appeared after that date are about entirely different games: a December 2023 announcement about Cosplay Club (another Behold Studios game entering Early Access), and an August 2025 announcement about Deep Dish Dungeon (a new game with a new publisher). Behold Studios is clearly still active as a studio, but their attention has moved fully to new projects. Both DLC items listed on the store — the Soundtrack (released April 28, 2015) and the Episode Editor (released February 23, 2018) — are fully released. No unreleased DLC exists. The developer has not announced any future content for Chroma Squad, and the last Chroma Squad-specific communication was the Episode Editor launch in February 2018. The game launched as a complete tactical RPG and received meaningful post-launch support that concluded with the Episode Editor. It is a finished product.
