Into the Breach

Into the Breach launched on February 27, 2018 as a complete, finished game. Subset Games released several post-launch improvements — including controller support in November 2018 and full localization with a native Linux version in April 2020 — but the most significant content milestone was the Advanced Edition update, released for free on July 19, 2022. This was a substantial expansion of the game, adding five new mech squads, nearly forty new weapons, new enemies, bosses, pilots, mission objectives, and a harder difficulty mode. The store page prominently highlights Advanced Edition as the current version of the game. Following Advanced Edition, Subset Games issued a couple of bug-fix patches through January 2023 to address issues reported by players. The most recent developer communication is a December 2, 2025 post announcing a discount bundle with another studio's game (Demonschool) — a promotional cross-promotion rather than a content update. There are no unreleased DLC items on the store, no announced roadmaps, and no developer statements suggesting additional content is planned. The one DLC listed is the soundtrack, which shipped at launch. The overall picture is a game that launched complete, received a major free content expansion in July 2022, had that expansion polished through early 2023, and has since been in a maintenance-only state. Subset Games has not communicated any plans for further content.
