Climbey left Early Access on January 8, 2022. When the developer made that announcement on January 3, 2022, they were explicit about what that transition meant: future updates would be limited to holidays, special events, or critical bug fixes — not ongoing content development. This was a clear statement that the game had reached its final form as a content product. The developer has stayed true to that commitment. Since the 1.0 release, posts have consisted of occasional maintenance patches, compatibility updates for new VR hardware (like the Vive XR Elite and Steam Frame headsets), and bug fixes. None of these constitute new game content — they are technical upkeep to keep the game running on current platforms. A June 2024 developer post reinforced this, noting that the developer has been primarily focused on work within Facepunch's S&box platform, and described that update as "probably the last Climbey update you'll get for a while." The most recent post from December 24, 2025 is a technical patch adding Steam Frame headset support and performance optimizations — consistent with the stated maintenance-only model. The game shipped as a complete VR climbing experience with 15 built-in levels, a level editor, Steam Workshop support, and online multiplayer. The developer has not announced any new content, expansions, or features beyond hardware compatibility work.
