CounterSide launched on Steam on September 1, 2022 as a free-to-play live service RPG and operated with regular weekly updates, seasonal content, monthly developer notes, and ongoing story expansions for nearly four years. On June 17, 2026, CEO Ryu Geumtae published a formal End of Service announcement confirming that live service ended on August 25, 2026, with in-app purchases and new downloads halted following maintenance on June 16, 2026. The official website, community channels, and customer support are all scheduled to end on September 29, 2026 — one day after today's date of September 28, 2026. The storefront currently has no purchase options available, confirming the game can no longer be acquired. The developer noted that a future reboot project is being considered, but no concrete form or timeline has been confirmed for that effort. The Head PD stepped down on April 24, 2026, and the last major story content — Main Stream EP. 15 — shipped on April 21, 2026, after which new content development ceased. An August 26, 2026 post confirmed the End of Service had taken effect as scheduled.
