Creatures Inc. is an Early Access game that has been in development since March 2019. As of late 2025, the developer made a significant decision: to rebuild the entire game from scratch. A new alpha version became available in December 2025, though the developer describes it as "very early alpha with extremely limited content" — only two missions are currently playable, and major systems like online co-op, vehicles, and the skill tree were initially missing (co-op was added in Update 0.0.1.4 on December 29, 2025). The developer is actively communicating and shipping updates. Between December 2025 and January 2026, three updates were released (0.0.1.1, 0.0.1.3, and 0.0.1.4), and a follow-up post on January 29, 2026 confirmed ongoing work on map content, roads, buildings, and the return of the "Infernal Nights" feature (announced January 9, 2026). The Infernal Nights update has been detailed with planned features but has not yet shipped. However, the developer also disclosed on January 29, 2026 that they can only work on the project one day per week, meaning progress is intentionally slow with updates expected roughly every 2–3 months. This is a solo developer undertaking a complete rebuild of the game, with the current playable state being very early and far from the full vision described in the store page. There is a real question about whether the ambitious plans for this rebuilt version will be fully realized given these constraints.
