Crunch Element is a VR tactical shooter that has been in Early Access since December 18, 2020. After nearly a year of behind-the-scenes rebuilding, solo developer Blake launched the Overhaul Update on June 27, 2025, which rebuilt core systems from the ground up — including mission structure, enemy AI, player progression, networking, and the entire art style. The previous version of the game was moved to a "legacy" branch. The developer was explicit that this overhaul is a foundation, not a conclusion. The June 27, 2025 update post describes it as "the beginning of a new chapter" and states that "new modes and content are coming soon." The store description echoes this: "the foundation is set for continuous updates, new contracts, and new missions." A follow-up devlog on July 12, 2025 recapped the new systems and reaffirmed the developer's intent to keep sharing updates. The game has a well-established history of major content drops throughout its Early Access life: the Operations Update (December 2021), a 10-map content update (March 2022), and the Rogue Mode Update (October 2022), before the lengthy rebuild that concluded with the 2025 Overhaul. The most recent developer communication was on July 12, 2025. As of today (October 8, 2026), that is roughly 15 months of silence — which is notable given the prior cadence of roughly annual major updates. However, no distress signals have been posted, and the game remains in Early Access with announced but unshipped content (new modes, contracts, and missions). The developer has not indicated that development is ending or that the game is complete. The silence warrants monitoring, but the outstanding stated commitments from June–July 2025 have not been walked back.

About this game

Crunch Element is a tactical VR shooter where you breach, blast, and clear destructible compounds using explosive gadgets, high-powered weapons, and precision tactics.

Play solo or co-op with up to 4 players. Plan your raid, choose your loadout, and enter enemy compounds where no wall is safe and every mission plays out in destructible environments.

After nearly a year of rebuilding, Crunch Element has been fully reworked with new systems, enemies, and gear based on reviews and feedback. The foundation is set for continuous updates, new contracts, and new missions.
