Dark Quest 2 launched on March 6, 2018 and received post-launch patches through November 2, 2019 (v1.0.4), which addressed bug fixes and balance changes. The developer, Brain Seal Ltd, has since moved on to sequels and related titles: Dark Quest: Board Game (launched into Early Access on May 4, 2022), Dark Quest 3 (reached 1.0 on May 24, 2023), Dark Quest 4 (announced March 25, 2025 and launched November 5, 2025), and a remaster of the original Dark Quest 1 titled Dark Quest: Remastered (launched February 7, 2026). There is no indication of any new content planned for Dark Quest 2 itself. The sole DLC — the soundtrack — was released before the game even launched. The developer's ongoing activity is entirely focused on newer entries in the series, not Dark Quest 2. The game appears to have shipped as a complete product and received its last meaningful update in November 2019.

Dark Quest 2 is a turn based RPG inspired by legendary board game Hero Quest. The game features a party based system where you control a group of heroes, an isometric hand-drawn art style, dice based mechanics and much more.

Each map is designed to take you through an adventure that will test your party's strength, courage and sanity as you go deeper and deeper into the castle in search for the chambers of the evil sorcerer.
