Dead launched on April 6, 2018 as a complete boss-fighting game featuring ten bosses. Over the years, the developer (Alec Smith) shipped a series of balance and feature patches, and in May 2020 was candid with players about being unable to resolve an FPS bug — reverting the game to a stable older version and pausing updates while investigating. That issue was ultimately resolved with the April 2021 "Angry Update," which brought the game to version 6.0.0.0 and added new gameplay modifiers. On June 23, 2026, the developer shipped Mini-Dead: Tarot — a major content release that updated the base game to version 4.0.0 — marking the most recent significant development milestone. The sole DLC on the store (the soundtrack) has been released since May 2018. The store description presents the game as a finished product with a fixed set of ten bosses and defined feature list, and there are no unreleased DLC entries or announced future content. No roadmaps or promises of additional content have been made following the June 2026 release. The game is complete as of June 23, 2026.
