Evaluation

Dead Trash launched on March 11, 2025 as a complete first-person action game. The developer — a solo developer at Crowhill Studios — has been actively adding to the game since launch. This includes a series of feature patches in the weeks after release, a paid holiday mini-campaign (Operation: Yellow Snow, January 20, 2026), and now a substantial free Harbor Update released on August 20, 2026. The Harbor Update adds two brand-new levels set in an industrial harbor, several new enemy types, a new throwable grenade weapon, new comic-book story sequences, a new music track, and also goes back to enrich existing levels with new areas, textures, and secrets. The developer's thank-you message in the Harbor Update notes that the game has been out for over a year and expresses gratitude for ongoing player support — framing this update as a reward for that community, not as a final send-off. No statement has been made that development is complete or that no further content is planned. With two major content releases now established — Operation: Yellow Snow (January 2026) and the Harbor Update (August 2026), roughly 7 months apart — the game shows a pattern of meaningful post-launch additions. Both DLC entries on the store have shipped, and no new DLC has been announced, but the developer has not indicated the game is finished.
Evidence
The Harbor Update ships as a free update: two new levels in an industrial harbor, new enemy factions (biker cult, dock workers, bigger rats), a new hand grenade weapon, new comic-book story sequences, a new music track, and additions to existing levels. Developer thanks the community and frames the update as a reason to return or play for the first time — but does not say this is the final update.

About this game

Years into a brutal lockdown, a once-thriving city lies in ruins, abandoned by its government and overrun by vicious, mindless infected. Those left behind are treated as human waste, discarded in a world that no longer cares. The government enforces the quarantine with ruthless precision, sending hazmat teams into the city to kill anyone who remains—infected or not—in an effort to contain the outbreak and secure something far more dangerous hidden within the city.

You play as Sam, a former urban planner, one of the few left alive. With intimate knowledge of the city’s crumbling infrastructure, Sam must navigate both the decaying streets above and the dangerous underground—a maze of trash-filled sewers, forgotten tunnels, and abandoned subways. But no matter where you go, danger awaits. The infected roam mindlessly, bandits hunt survivors, and government hazmat teams sweep through, eliminating anyone in their path as they carry out their deadly mission. Every step brings you closer to escape… or to your end.

Dead Trash is a dark, visceral first-person action game evocative of 1980s Video Nasties. With a heavy emphasis on brutal melee combat and grim exploration, Dead Trash will welcome you into its unsettling world, and you feel like you are being watched. Grab your hammer, collect your nerves and enter the mayhem.
