Despair: Blood Curse launched on January 10, 2024 as a self-published solo-developer project. Prior to launch, the developer communicated in November 2023 that the core game was complete and playable from start to finish, with only Steam Achievements and localization remaining before release. Following launch, the developer shipped two patches: Version 1.01 on February 14, 2024 (improving combat, backtracking, and fixing bugs) and Version 1.02 on March 9, 2024 (adding a post-game Nightmare difficulty mode with a new starting weapon). There have been no developer communications since March 9, 2024, no DLC listed on the store, no roadmap or announcement of future content, and no indication that additional content is planned. The game appears to have launched as a complete, self-contained product and the post-launch patches brought it to a polished final state. The developer has not signaled any intention to continue adding content.
