Evaluation

Dino Trauma is a retro FPS built by a two-person team (Łukasz and Anastasiia of Phobia Interactive) working on the game during off-hours. It entered Steam Early Access on April 28, 2023, with a roadmap promising three full campaign episodes and a 1.0 release. The game has been receiving regular updates throughout its Early Access period. Three major content milestones have shipped: the Expedition Mode update on December 24, 2024 (new game mode, inventory system, new enemies); the Leviathan Content Update on December 8, 2025 (Episode 2 begins with three story maps, six new dinosaur species, a new Flame Launcher weapon); and the Episode 2 Expanded update on June 21, 2026 (a fourth story map, E2M4, plus two more dinosaur species and new secrets). The December 2025 update explicitly stated that Episode 2's fourth map would arrive in a "mini-update" — which the June 2026 update delivered — and that a larger "Chasm Update" is also planned. The rest of Episode 2 was described as actively in development, and Episode 3 from the original roadmap remains outstanding. The August 2025 devblog confirmed that Episode 2 was so large it was split into two parts, with Part 2 still ahead. The most recent developer communication was the June 21, 2026 update, which maintained the tone of ongoing development with no signs of the project slowing down. The developers continue to communicate actively and deliver substantial updates, and the game has a clear path of remaining content before it reaches a 1.0 release.
Evidence
Episode 2 Expanded update ships E2M4 (new story map), two new dinosaur species, new secrets, and numerous bug fixes and improvements. Developers describe this as a continuation of the Early Access journey.
