Evaluation

Disfigure originally launched as a free-to-play game on July 26, 2023, and on August 21, 2026, the developer released the 1.0 update — a major milestone that added a new map (Map 3) with over 20 new enemies and 5 new boss fights, a new flamethrower weapon, 6 new mutations, a quest system, weapon ascensions, and more. The game is now available for purchase at $5–6, as the developer had hinted at as far back as August 2023. Leading up to 1.0, the developer maintained an active and consistent update cadence: the Colossus Part 1 update reworked Map 1 in April 2025, Colossus Part 2 reworked Map 2 in August 2025, Update 28 added a Grenade Launcher in January 2026, Update 30 added a Projectile Shield in March 2026, and Update 31 added a new upgrade tree in May 2026. This pattern shows major content arriving roughly every 2–4 months. In the July 2026 announcement, the developer thanked players and noted they hope everyone enjoys "the release and future work to come" — suggesting the 1.0 launch is not the end of development. No specific future content has been announced, but given the sustained update history and that phrasing, it would be reasonable to expect additional updates. The game has no unreleased DLC listed, and no roadmap for post-1.0 content has been published yet.

About this game

Gameplay

Disfigure is a horde survivor game with a horror twist. In an arena shrouded in shadow, pay close attention to your surroundings—vision is restricted and monsters can be anywhere. Swap between Circle and Cone Vision modes: one lets you see nearby, while the other lets you see farther in one direction. Fight escalating hordes, bosses, and survive!

Build Crafting

Collect EXP from enemies to level up and discover hundreds of upgrades. From singularities to radiation, the possibilities are limitless. You can wield lightning and fire, shoot thousands of bullets, create a whirlwind of swords... the choice is yours. Every upgrade tree changes the way you play. Even Vision itself can be shaped to your advantage: will you sacrifice it to increase power, or bolster it as your beacon in the depths?

Unlocks

Every run rewards you with Credits to unlock new weapons, gear, and permanent upgrades. Each weapon has its own unique projectiles and perks, offering plenty of options to suit your playstyle. (There's a flamethrower!) Invest your earnings into powering up your character or adding run modifiers that reshape future runs.
