Driftmoon

Driftmoon originally launched on January 3, 2014, and received its major overhaul — the Enchanted Edition — on April 29, 2020. At the time of that update, the developer explicitly stated: "Now that Driftmoon is finished, we're hoping to make enough money from it to finally get the chance to focus full-time on making our own games." This was a clear completion statement for the game's content. Since then, the developer has remained intermittently active with maintenance: a bug fix in October 2024 (fixing a long-standing companion bug discovered when the developer's daughter played the game), a demo release in November 2024, and a minor bug/polish update (2.0.2) in April 2025. The soundtrack DLC shipped on May 9, 2025. The May 2025 newsletter sign-up post mentioned working on "new ideas, updates, and maybe even something big," and the soundtrack announcement on May 9, 2025 confirmed "a new home-cooked, Instant Kingdom game" is in development. Crucially, both of these point to a *new game* from the studio — not new content for Driftmoon itself. The developer is directing players to sign up for notifications about a new game release, not a Driftmoon expansion. There are no unreleased DLC items on the store. The developer's own 2020 statement declared the game finished, and nothing since has contradicted that for Driftmoon specifically — the excitement in 2025 is about a new project. The ongoing bug fixes and the demo are maintenance and accessibility work, not content additions. Driftmoon is a complete, finished game.
