Edge Islands entered Steam Early Access on March 24, 2025, developed and published by a solo developer (Serge at LS Games). Since launch, the game has received an impressive 11 major content updates in roughly 16 months, establishing a consistent cadence of approximately one major update every 4–8 weeks.
The major updates include: Weapons & Armors (June 26, 2025), a complete UI & Graphics overhaul (July 24, 2025), a Raids system (September 15, 2025), a Trading system (November 6, 2025), the Forge Update with a new dungeon (January 22, 2026), the Automation Update with golems and a new original soundtrack marking one year in Early Access (March 5, 2026), and the Community Update adding hero customization, combat auto-resolve, and a minimap (April 23, 2026). Most recently, a feature patch on July 3, 2026 added a proper tutorial and combat improvements.
In the July 3, 2026 post, the developer stated they planned to take a vacation and then return with "new mechanics," directly confirming that development is ongoing. The developer has also described a philosophy of incremental, community-driven development throughout Early Access, and noted in March 2026 that they were "really proud of the current state of the game" while continuing to build upon it.
The game remains in Early Access with no announced 1.0 release date or completion timeline. Anyone considering the purchase should expect the game to continue evolving with new systems and content.

Inspired by classics of the genre but more accessible, manage a team of adventurers landing on a procedural island, and explore dungeons while taking care of their needs, moods, traits and social interactions.
Gather resources from your environment to build a colony for your heroes and prepare for their adventures. Make them cosy to improve their mood, farm and raise animals to provide food while facing changing weather and seasons. Then, when you are ready, recruit new members and expand until building a massive fortress. You will find many items and customization options to create a unique base!
Take part in turn-based tactical combats with your heroes. Use skills learned in the colony and earn XP to level up. Experience fast-paced combats with teams of 4 and based on placement and synergies between units.
Explore procedural islands with points of interest and resources to improve the colony. Prepare and send groups on expeditions into procedural dungeons to retrieve loot and gold, allowing you to recruit new heroes and unlock new constructions.
