Edge Of Eternity

Edge of Eternity launched on June 8, 2021 and received a substantial wave of free post-launch content over the following two years. The developer shipped several major updates: a Bestiary and performance patch in July 2021, Major Update 1.1 (new enemies, spells, quests) in November 2021, Japanese voice acting in February 2022, New Game+ in November 2022, four Community Updates focused on quality-of-life improvements between December 2022 and April 2023, and finally the New Beginning Update in July 2023 — which added a procedural dungeon (the Lighthouse) and a completely revamped prologue. At the close of the New Beginning Update post on July 17, 2023, the developer signalled a wind-down of active updates, stating: "After almost a year of live development on Edge Of Eternity, we need to take a step back from the updates." They mentioned a possible future world map and loading screen refresh as a vague hope, not a firm commitment. No further updates to the game have been posted since that date. The most recent developer communication on the Steam page, posted February 26, 2025, announced a brand-new game — Edge of Memories — set in the same universe but described as its own separate project. This confirms that Midgar Studio has moved on to a new title rather than continuing development of Edge of Eternity. All four DLC items listed on the store are released, and no unreleased DLC exists. The developer's July 2023 language, combined with the subsequent pivot to an entirely new game and the absence of any Edge of Eternity updates since that date, consistently points to the game being content-complete as of the New Beginning Update.
