Evaluation

Engine Evolution 2022 is a free-to-play multiplayer racing game released on February 21, 2023 by solo developer Petr Šimůnek. The game received active patching and feature updates through mid-2023, primarily focused on multiplayer improvements and customization systems. On March 30, 2023, the developer posted that full development on this title would be paused while he worked on a separate project (a historical game called "Bitva u Hořic 1423"). By August 7, 2023, he announced the successor title Engine Evolution 2023 had launched in Early Access — effectively signaling that Engine Evolution 2022 had been superseded. Since August 2023, the developer's output has shifted entirely to new entries in the "Evolution" game series: Motorbike Evolution 2024 (March 28, 2024), Formula Evolution 2024 (June 3, 2024), and Sidecar Evolution 2024 (August 12, 2024). All of these are separate standalone games rather than updates to Engine Evolution 2022. There have been no feature updates, announcements, or communications about new content for Engine Evolution 2022 since mid-2023. The developer has not announced any future content for this game, and the pattern of activity clearly shows development attention has moved on to successor titles. The game appears to have concluded its update cycle when Engine Evolution 2023 launched.

About this game

This game was created during my studies at Charles University in Prague. I made most of the game alone. I hope you will enjoy it! My goal is to capture 150 years of racing in a single game one day.

Engine Evolution is a multiplayer racing game that uses principles similar to World of Tanks - with each race against 11 other players, you gain experience and credits, for which you can buy various upgrades for your vehicle or unlock newer vehicles. You start with machines of 1906. Can you get to the very top and ride on modern machinery?

Controls are simplified enough to give you still the passion for riding but not too complex to take you hours to learn. It mainly focuses on giving players the best enjoyment from racing fights possible. The game's core is short, dynamic races with a high action density. The feeling from the ride is very reminiscent of older games; do not expect a hardcore simulator. On the other hand, it's not a kart racing game - there are physics, and you need to keep that in mind.

- 90 historic vehicles from 7 nations
- 25 real and custom tracks
- 1000+ of various vehicle setups
- 100+ vehicle patterns
- 10 different biomes

Using a simple yet rich customization system, you can customize your vehicle and rider as much as you want. You can paint your vehicles with any combination of colors or any of hundreds of available patterns.

The game is based on custom cloud-saving technology. As part of that, it contains many classic MMO features like cloud save, leaderboards, daily missions, achievements, and stats! Compare yourself to other racers!
