Even the Ocean launched on November 16, 2016 as a complete, self-contained 6–8 hour story-driven platformer. Its only DLC is the original soundtrack, which was released simultaneously with the game on launch day. There has been no post-launch content of any kind — no expansions, no additional story content, no updates beyond localization patches (Russian and German were added in November 2017). In September 2023, the developer open-sourced the game's entire codebase and assets, making them freely available for others to study and modify. This is a strong signal that the game is considered fully finished — developers typically open-source projects when they have moved on from active development. The developer explicitly described this as a celebratory gesture for a game that is "still for sale" but clearly no longer in active development. All of the developer's news activity on this store page since launch has been announcements for other Analgesic Productions titles: Anodyne 2 (released August 2019), Sephonie (released April 2022 and ported to consoles in July 2023), Angeline Era (announced June 2023 with a demo in May 2024), and Danchi Days (demo released June 2025). None of these posts suggest any plans to return to Even the Ocean. The game launched complete and has remained so.
