Everholm launched on November 11, 2024 and has received two major content updates from developer Chonky Loaf. Update 1.1.0 (March 2, 2025) overhauled the quest system, added a cooking system with 50 recipes, and introduced a Compendium. Update 2.0 (February 19, 2026) was the studio's biggest update yet, delivering a full NPC dialogue overhaul, the Everholm Archive narrative system, 120+ new items, a boss fight rework, expanded story content, and Simplified Chinese localization. The 2.0 release post explicitly named features planned for future updates — achievements, more customisation, automation systems, and content expansion — and described Update 2.0 as laying "the foundation for future content still to come." Since Update 2.0, the developer has remained active: hotfixes shipped on February 20 and March 17, 2026, a bug fix patch arrived on April 17, 2026, and an achievements patch was delivered on June 19, 2026 — fulfilling one of the items explicitly promised in the 2.0 notes. The remaining promised items (more customisation, automation, content expansion) have not yet been delivered. An early post from November 2024 also teased a public roadmap covering "years worth of free updates" including new islands, NPCs, house expansions, and more, though that roadmap has not been formally published. With two major updates establishing a roughly 6–12 month release cadence, the developer actively communicating and shipping patches as recently as June 19, 2026, and several explicitly promised features still outstanding, the game is clearly in ongoing development. The most recent communication is approximately two months before today's date of August 19, 2026, well within the established activity pattern.

Everholm is an open-ended role playing game, focusing less on punching your way through the island's wildlife, and more on interpersonal relationships. Meet the residents of Everholm, gain their trust, and figure out why they're stuck with her on this enigmatic island.

Everholm isn't just about talking to the locals - it's about living together, learning new skills, and making the most of this cute little island. Lilly will have to learn how to farm crops, forage for supplies, do some fishing, raise livestock, and more. Turn a little run-down homestead into a cozy and well-kept place to truly call home.

However, Everholm isn't all sunshine and flowers - the island has many secrets which need to be pried open by force or finesse accordingly. Delve into procedurally generated dungeons to fight monsters that lurk underground, requiring powerful weapons and spells to survive. Delve deep enough into the dangerous caverns, and Lilly might just be rewarded with rare materials to bring topside…
