Exocraft launched on March 12, 2019 as a free-to-play massively multiplayer game and received a steady stream of updates through its early life — including a significant Boss Battles update on May 30, 2019 that added a new enemy type (leviathans), new locations, and exclusive parts. Smaller feature and bug-fix patches continued through September 2019, a maintenance patch shipped in May 2020, and a final engine/bug-fix update (v1.9.6) arrived on May 25, 2021. That May 2021 patch is the last recorded developer communication specifically about Exocraft. In March 2021, GoldFire Studios announced they were working on a separate game — Arctic Awakening — while stating that "Exocraft will continue to get updates." However, Arctic Awakening shipped on September 18, 2025 after more than five years of development, and a post accompanying that launch thanked players who had supported the studio "since CasinoRPG, Exocraft, or are just discovering our games now" — framing Exocraft as part of the studio's history rather than an ongoing project. No updates to Exocraft have been posted since May 25, 2021, a period of over four years, and no future content has been announced. The studio's creative focus has clearly shifted to and through their new title. Given the lack of any developer communication about Exocraft since May 2021, the absence of announced or unreleased DLC, and the studio's completion and launch of their next game, Exocraft appears to have reached the end of its active update cycle. The game launched as a complete, playable product and its last substantive update was the May 2021 maintenance patch.
