Extremely Realistic Siege Warfare Simulator has been in Early Access since September 7, 2022, and remains in that phase today — the game has not reached a 1.0 release. The biggest development milestone happened in April 2025: the developer announced on April 12, 2025 that the game was transitioning to free-to-play, which took effect on April 17, 2025. In that same announcement, the developer explicitly confirmed that development had not stopped — they had been actively building new networking and cross-platform systems on a test branch ("daily_build") rather than the default branch, which is why most players hadn't seen updates for over a year. They also announced a mobile version with cross-platform multiplayer support, to be rolled out globally throughout 2025. The Map Pack and Sandbox Editor DLC shipped on April 29, 2025, completing the promised compensation package for prior paid players. The game has fully transitioned to a free-to-play, live-service monetization model. In-game purchases include the Battle Commander Pass (required to unlock all unit types), cosmetic equipment skins, and avatar gacha items. The developer stated that free players can only use a portion of units without purchasing the pass, and explicitly described the free version as a "trial edition." Server costs are noted as a future factor that could limit free players' multiplayer time. This is a structured ongoing monetization system designed around indefinite service. Development has been active throughout the game's history: multiple major content drops in 2023 (July and August), continued feature patches in late 2023 and into 2024, and the significant free-to-play transition with a new DLC in April 2025. The developer's April 2025 announcement described substantial outstanding work (mobile rollout, networking systems) and stated they have "a very large number of tasks to complete."
