Football Game launched on February 13, 2018 as a self-described short (1–2 hour) point-and-click adventure. Shortly after launch, the developer added a French localisation (announced February 16, 2018) and later expanded language support to German and Spanish alongside a widescreen resolution update in November 2019 — both quality-of-life improvements rather than new content. A small bug fix patch was posted on June 28, 2020, which is the most recent update to Football Game itself. Since then, Cloak and Dagger Games has moved on to new projects: they released Sumatra: Fate of Yandi in May 2019, The Terrible Old Man on Steam in October 2019, and their largest title, The Excavation of Hob's Barrow, in September 2022. The developer has made no announcements of any further content or updates for Football Game. The sole DLC — the original soundtrack — shipped on launch day. The game was designed and marketed as a short, complete experience, and the developer's communications since launch reflect a studio that has fully moved on to subsequent projects.
